About

I graduated from Tufts University with a degree in anthropology. Partly because I love to wax philosophical about sociocultural nuances of humanity, and partly because I thought it meant being Indiana Jones. (It doesn’t mean that.) But, I do understand a lot about social patterns and cultural implications, and I bring that to the table.

After graduating, I joined the Miami Corps of Teach for America, where I taught high school physics for two years. I learned how to shape information in a way where people listen. Making 17-year-olds care about 3-dimensional Newtonian kinematics tends to do that. Simultaneously, I continued to rack up student loans getting an M. S. Ed. at the University of Miami.

After Teach for America, I attended Portfolio School in Chicago, where I secured gainful employment as an art director at Golin. There, I designed a card game, had test subjects eat mayonnaise and peanut butter sandwiches, and even bedazzled a whipped cream can for Chrissy Teigen. It was fun.

When it was time to leave to Chicago, I joined Zimmerman as a content creator for the consumer experience team. I jumped-started a program called zTrends, which allowed our clients to react to social trends in real time, and maximize their social presence for their followers.

After the pandemic, I joined Nonprofit Quarterly as a Creative Director, developing their brand identity and creative workflows under new leadership. Later, I joined Fufu & Grits, first as an Art Director, then as a Brand Architect. We did client work for social justice organizations, and created original work that told the stories of intersectional Black identity.

I also went back to school to get a MA in anthropology, because I’m still hopeful for my Indiana Jones era.

Now, I freelance for a strong portfolio of clients, all of whom bring interesting work into my life. But I’m always looking for additional opportunities at places that need some non-traditional thinking.
